The Big Cottage was the first to be built on the property sometime in the late 1800s. The cottage has two side porches (one screened-in), bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs and up, a large kitchen, dining area and adjoining living room with a wonderful view of the water. The large front lawn stretches down to the ocean where you can hunt for sea glass or crabs on a big low-tide beach or wade into the water at high tide (a newly installed metal handrail makes traversing the rocks down to the beach a lot easier). Wake up on the early side to watch lobstermen tending their traps in the cove, grab the binoculars to scan the water for seals, or simply take in the soothing sound of a distant fog horn.
